If you’re a software developer and seeing this, there is a good chance one of two things is probably true:
- You’re super bored at work. As this is like the 4th most interesting content site.
- You’re looking for a job.
Both are a problem.
Everyone gets bored at work sometimes, so I can’t fix that for you, but I will ask “How often are you bored?” “Why are you bored??”
Where does boredom at a job come from? In my experience, it comes from not being fully engaged with your work, company or team. It comes from not having a clear purpose into what you’re building, and it can show up when you don’t feel like you’re learning anything new.
So I’ll ask this question as a follow up: What do you know about consulting?
My entire job at SafeNet consulting is to make sure our consultants feel engaged, feel like they are supported and feel like they are growing. I take that very seriously.
Our consultants routinely work on high profile projects for their clients and generally have contracts that last about a year. Imagine being able to job jump with no penalty after you’ve done the cool thing you were hired to do!
I routinely check in with our consultants to make sure they have all the information they need. We talk about career goals and opportunities as well as work out any issues so they can focus on practicing their craft at the highest possible level. Imagine working at a consulting firm that is the opposite of a body-shop!
We pay very fair wages and are continually working on building a coherent consultant career path. We aren’t middle-men. We don’t recruit you only to pawn you off. We want you here for the long haul. Imagine that – a consulting firm that wants to invest in you.
This is who we are. We are consultant first. If this interests you, give us a call, send us a message – show up at our door and let’s talk – show up at our door and let’s talk.
